Peace River Preserve encompasses 450 acres of diverse ecosystems, including scrubby flatwoods, mesic flatwoods and mangrove swamps, providing crucial habitat for scrub jays and other species. Management efforts, such as prescribed burning and thinning overgrown oaks, aim to enhance habitat quality while addressing the effects of historical fire suppression and improving water drainage issues in the area.
